My cousin was disfellowshipped at 19 years old. He told me that the elders were following him around while he had a girlfriend on the side. He had a guilty conscience one day and admitted to fornicating with his girlfriend. He was ''marked''. A couple of months later he was disfellowshipped.

What happened in between? Did the elders bring him in the back room once in a while and ask him if he was still fornicating with his girlfriend? At what point did the elders feel it was time to disfellowship him?

WATCHTOWER APRIL 2015 ( STUDY EDITION )

God pardoned David’s sin because of David’s sincere repentance. (Ps. 32:1-5) Likewise, a servant of Jehovah today will be disfellowshipped only if he is unrepentant or continues to practice what is bad. (Acts 3:19; 26:20) If genuine repentance is not manifest to the elders who serve on a judicial committee, they must disfellowship the person.

Let's use teenagers ( as an example ) who get disfellowshipped from the congregation due to fornication. These teens admit to the elders that they were fornicating ( due to getting caught or from a guilty conscience ). How does the elder body follow up after a teen admits to fornication the first time? Are they questioned for a time period after? How many times can someone admit to fornication where someone is declared unrepentant?

What is sincere repentance? How does the elder body know if someone is unrepentant or continues what is bad? How does someone show genuine repentance?

Your explanation was Exactly what the term '' jump the shark'' means. Original meaning was the point when a television series shows it has run out of ideas and must resort to stunts to retain viewer interest. Derived from a scene in the last years of Happy Days when the Fonz waterskied over a shark.
As you stated, the WTS is in decline, stagnant,taking drastic measures to regain momentum,trying to reinvent themselves,not remaining true to themselves,selling out and doing outlandish things to retain members and soften new members.
This in not the WTBTS I've known since the early 70's when I was baptized. The acting in these videos look out of place and stiff. They look worse than the dramas at the summer conventions. Bad acting and lip syncing.

the good news is that, just like the watchtower, their growth is being stunted by the internet.. grab a coffee and be amazed at just how gullible millions of people can be.. lucy harris has become my new heroine.

God hands over plates to Moses ( they somehow seem to get smashed into pieces ). The Angel Maroni hands plates to Joseph Smith ( the Angel now wants them back for some reason). Why can't God find anyone on this earth to preserve these plates? OH! Maybe there were no plates to begin with!

I watched the whole video and enjoyed every minute of it!

Mr. Fitzgerald is a wonderful speaker and leaves no stone uncovered.

I always wondered why God would pick a fraudster like Joseph Smith, have an angel named Maroni ( what a stupid name for an angel....must of been an Italian angel) visit Mr.Smith ( who is always by himself ) numerous times and directs him to buried golden plates. According to Smith, he returned the golden plates to Moroni after they were translated and as of 1838 the angel Moroni still had the plates in his possession.

My questions are: Why would God or Maroni need these plates back? Why didn't they leave them if God wanted believers? Who is more bizarre and wacky.....Mr Smith or his followers?

The term elder should be lowercase not capitalized

for some reason ever time i see term, "elder" capitalized i feel like correcting it.

they do not deserve that capital letter.

they are lowercase as a breed.

i hated ministry book bags.i hated coming out of my home with the book bags looking like i was going to a seminar.so,i starting going to the ministry school and sunday bible meetings holding only the required books for that day in my hand.. for the sunday meetings,i would just carry the song book,bible and watchtower magazine in my hand.

no book bag!

for the ministry school,i would just carry just what necessary for the evening.

Is this the bag? Only self-righteous Elders carried these bags. I think this bag carried every book,magazine and tracts that were ever written by the society so they can show how spiritual they were.

I believe you were/are an Elder. Can you tell me why that would of bothered the Elders ( by me not having a Service Book Bag in a meeting where everyone was a Witness?) Was that my local Elders deciding the stupid rule or some stupid unwritten rule around all the congregations?
